2022 Construction Projects - Held Over for 2023 Completion

Foley Boulevard (CSAH 11) Railway Grade Separation

Project improvements include reconstruction of Foley Boulevard from a 4-lane undivided roadway to a 4-lane divided roadway with turn lanes, multi-use trail, and an overpass at the Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) Railroad tracks. The project will improve public safety and reduce traffic congestion on CSAH 11 by constructing the bridge over the BNSF railway. 

UPDATE:
Punch list items are scheduled to start in late May 2023. The contractor installed curb & gutter at the Met Transit Park & Ride during the week of May 15.  Once the concrete curb has cured, the contractor will schedule the bituminous surfacing inside the parking lot, during the week of May 22.  Final turf restoration and parking lot pavement markings are scheduled for the week of May 29.  


125th Avenue (CSAH 14) Reconstruction from Harpers Street to Lexington Avenue (CSAH 17) 

This project will reconstruct the existing 2-lane roadway to a 4-lane divided roadway. Other project elements include installation of a storm drainage system, ADA enhancements, a multi-use trail, traffic signal system improvements, and other associated improvements.

UPDATE:
This project is substantially completed; the remaining punch list items were completed the week of May 22. 


2023 Construction Projects


CSAH 35 (Central Avenue) at Gardena Avenue Roundabout Construction

To address safety concerns at the intersection of Central Avenue and Gardena Avenue, Anoka County has partnered with the City of Fridley to construct a roundabout at the intersection. The City of Fridley is also in the process of redesigning Moore Lake Park, which is adjacent to the intersection. Coordination efforts are continuing with both projects. Construction is anticipated to start in Spring 2023 for the intersection portion of the project.

UPDATE:
Construction and road closures shall start on June 12.   CenterPoint Energy is installing new gas lines inside the construction limits of the project.  Due to the new road alignment, Xcel Energy is relocating three power poles, and AT&T, Lumen, and Comcast will relocate to the new Xcel power poles.


CSAH 52 (Radisson Road) at Cloud Drive Intersection Signalization

This project consists of installing a new traffic control signal system. Improvements will include dedicated left turn lanes on the Cloud Drive approach.

UPDATE:
The contractor has installed median, and concrete curb & gutter on the east leg of the intersection and new signal poles & mast arms and has begun installation of wiring for signal operations.  The contractor will remove the top surface of bituminous and install a new bituminous wearing course throughout the project during the week of May 30.  This project is on schedule to be completed on June 16.


CSAH 83 (Armstrong Boulevard) and Alpine Drive Roundabout Construction

To address safety concerns at CSAH 83 and Alpine Drive, Anoka County has partnered with the City of Ramsey to design a roundabout at the intersection. Construction is currently scheduled for 2023.

UPDATE:
Preliminary construction has started with the City of Ramsey watermain installation.  CenterPoint Energy continues to install new gas lines inside the construction limits of the project.



CSAH 18 (Crosstown Boulevard) from Ward Lake to Polk Street and Other Various Locations in Anoka County, as it Relates to Concrete Paving

This project address concrete pavement failure & safety concerns at various concrete panels on CSAH 18, 22 and 3. Construction is currently scheduled for May & June 2023.

UPDATE:
The contractor has completed their work with minor punch list items to complete.



2023 Overlay Program

The annual county-wide resurfacing program is currently scheduled for 2023.  The following County Roads are included in the program:

Lexington Avenue (CSAH 17) from Ash Street to North Road (CR 49) - Mill and Overlay
UPDATE: Construction scheduled to start June 19th

Crosstown Boulevard (CSAH 18) from 500’ west of Lexington Avenue (CSAH 17) to 500’ south of West Broadway Avenue – Reclaim and Overlay
UPDATE: 
Construction scheduled to start in late summer

Lake Drive (CSAH 23) from Main Street (CSAH 14) to Potomac Street (CR 19) - Mill and Overlay
UPDATE: Construction scheduled to start June 12th

Jarvis Street (CSAH 24) from 213th Avenue to Norris Lake Road – Reclaim and Overlay
UPDATE: This project is substantially completed, with remaining punch list items to be completed.

177th Avenue (CSAH 58) from 181st Avenue to Crosstown Boulevard (CSAH 18) – Reclaim and Overlay
UPDATE: Construction scheduled to start June 12th

181st Avenue (CR 64) from Baugh Street (CSAH 22) to Nowthen Boulevard (CSAH 5) – Reclaim and Overlay
UPDATE: Construction scheduled to start June 5th

Jarvis Street (CR 70) from Norris Lake Road (CSAH 24) – Reclaim and Overlay
UPDATE: This project is substantially completed, with remaining punch list items to be completed.

Sugarbush Road (CR 70) from 223rd Road to Nacre Street – Reclaim and Overlay
UPDATE:: The contractor has installed the first of two 2” bituminous lifts on both the north & south half of this project.  Starting the week of May 30, the contractor will start install the second of two 2” bituminous lifts.  Gravel shouldering, driveway & street approaches to follow.

Osborne Road (CR 108) from Old Central (CSAH 35) to Stinson Boulevard – Mill and Overlay
UPDATE: Construction scheduled to start in late summer

Viking Blvd (CSAH 22) at the Rum River Bridge – Mill and Overlay
UPDATE: This project is complete.
