Kelly’s Korner, a sports bar and grill, had been interested in reducing their single-use utensils, cups and ramping up their recycling collection efforts.
The brother and sister co-owners, Jeff Schultz and Vicki Byrne, worked with Waste Wise to assess their current recycling practices, determining that though their recycling dumpster was marked for “Cardboard Only”, a call to the waste hauler confirmed that single-stream recycling could also be included. To better collect the cans, bottles, and containers they could now recycle, they received color-coded recycling bins throughout the restaurant and patio. Waste Wise also helped the restaurant acquire sets of reusable tumblers and utensils so they could minimize the number of single-use items used daily. For the items that were not switched to reusable, Kelly’s Korner was able to swap those items out with recyclable products.
