Healthy Eating and Active Living

The foundation for a healthy body; reducing illness, and preventing chronic diseases is getting the recommended amount of physical activity and fruits and vegetables.

Physical Activity

Children need 60 minutes of activity and adults need 30 minutes of moderate to vigorous activities per day. This does not need to be achieved all at one time, but can be spaced out throughout the day for at least a minimum of 10 minutes at a time.

Nutrition

"Let's Go" encourages the easy to remember Healthy Numbers for Families system 5-2-1-0.

How Can Families Be Healthier?

Involving the whole family is the best way to promote a healthy lifestyle for your children. Here are some helpful tips:

  • Lead by example: "Walk the walk and talk the talk." Tell your children why it is important to eat healthy and get regular physical activity.
  • Start young: Establish good eating habits and exercise routines with your children.
  • Be active together: Find activities you can all enjoy together.
