Melting Snow Increasing Roadway Flooding, Potholes

The heavier-than-average snowfall this winter, coupled with several cycles of freezing and thawing, has led to roadway damage and flooding in several areas across Anoka County.

The Anoka County Transportation Department has been addressing this situation by filling potholes with cold patch, until the St. Paul hot patch facility opens. The opening of the hot patch facility will be later than normal this year, because of renovations to the building. Flooding trouble spots sometimes arise during warmer winter days when roadway catch basins become clogged by snow and debris. The Transportation Department has been attending to this issue by manually opening them up to drain water off roadways. If you would like to report a concern to the Anoka County Transportation Department, visit anokacountymn.gov/362/Report-a-Concern-or-Request-a-Service and fill out one of the forms available.
