ORGANICS PROGRAM REMINDERS
Hello Organics Program Participants,
My name is Heidi Blum. I’m the Anoka County program specialist in the areas of organics, waste prevention, and reuse. I am reaching out today with a few friendly reminders:
- Cardboard is NOT accepted at any organics drop-off sites in Anoka County.
- The only exception to this rule is delivery only pizza boxes. Uncoated cardboard delivery pizza boxes are likely to be soiled by grease, should not be recycled, but can go in the organics bin.
- Cardboard should be recycled in your regular recycling cart at home.
- When you put a regular cardboard box into an organics dumpster it is not being put to its highest and best use, and it should be recycled.
- All bags used for organics recycling must be BPI-certified.
- If you're transporting your bag of organics in a cardboard box or paper grocery bag, empty the organics (bagged in a BPI-certified bag) in the dumpster. Take the paper bag or box with you to place in your recycle bin at home.
Thank you for helping us make Anoka County’s organics programs successful and free of contaminants. I invite you to visit our website for more information.
