1. When will the license centers be open?

Our Blaine, Coon Rapids, and Ramsey License Centers are open by appointment only. Columbia Heights and Ham Lake will remain closed for the time being.

2. How do I renew my driver's license when all the license centers are closed?

Due to COVID-19, only select license centers are open for face-to-face services. The State of Minnesota is unable to process driver’s license and ID cards at this time. Governor Walz signed a bill into law March 28 that provides an extension for Minnesotans whose driver’s licenses or ID cards expire during the peacetime emergency. The expiration dates are now extended for two months after the month the peacetime emergency ends. Once the license centers open, make sure to fill out the Online Pre-Application to speed up the process.

3. Are there any license centers open during the stay at home order?

Many license centers across the state are processing work as long as it can be done without being face-to-face with a customer. Our Coon Rapids and Blaine License Centers will be open for appointment only. Please check the state website here for a list of license centers open with limited services.

4. Where are the drop boxes located?

At this time, we have six drop boxes available for the public to drop their work off for processing.

6. How do I transfer my title and what are the fees?

We are able to process title transfers through any of our drop boxes. Unfortunately, due to the varying nature of these transactions, there is no way to provide a set fee for the transfer.
