Julie Jeppson is serving her second term on the Anoka County Board of Commissioners, representing District 6, which includes most of Blaine and all of Spring Lake Park. A longtime Blaine resident, Julie brings nearly two decades of community involvement and leadership experience to her role.

Born in Grand Rapids, Michigan, Julie spent part of her childhood in Omaha, Nebraska, and grew up in Littleton, Colorado. She attended Denver Christian Schools from kindergarten through high school, graduating in 1993. Julie began her college education at Calvin College and Colorado State University before earning a BA in journalism with an emphasis in public relations from Metropolitan State College of Denver.

Julie met her husband, Nate, while attending Colorado State University. After living in Colorado and the Atlanta area, they moved to Blaine in 2004 to be closer to family. They have two children, Eleanor and Aaron, and have called Blaine home for 21 years.

Julie’s career reflects a deep commitment to nonprofit work and community engagement. She has served as a volunteer coordinator for St. Philip’s Lutheran Church in Fridley, contracted with Mediation Services, and worked at Stepping Stone Emergency Housing in Anoka, where she advanced from Volunteer Coordinator to Development Director and ultimately Executive Director. Under her leadership, Stepping Stone grew significantly, expanding its impact on homelessness in Anoka County.

Julie entered public service in 2018 as a member of the Blaine City Council, serving for six years. In 2023, she was elected to the Anoka County Board of Commissioners.

Julie is widely recognized for her leadership in transportation policy. Since joining Blaine’s City Council, she has been a fierce advocate for Highway 65 improvements, a corridor identified as one of Minnesota’s most dangerous. Through persistent lobbying and collaboration with local, state, and federal partners, Julie helped secure over $200 million from 14 funding sources for major interchange upgrades. Construction on four intersections is scheduled to begin in spring 2026, with the fifth targeted for 2028.

Her transportation work extends beyond Anoka County. Julie serves on the Metropolitan Council’s Transportation Advisory Board (TAB), where she contributes to regional transportation planning and funding processes. She also participates in the Active Transportation Working Group and the Policymaker Working Group, shaping competitive funding programs and federal application processes. Additionally, Julie represents all Minnesota counties on the Advisory Council on Traffic Safety (ACTS), revitalizing the state’s Toward Zero Deaths initiative.

Julie continues to champion infrastructure improvements, advocate for fair funding allocations, and maintain strong relationships with state legislators to protect county transportation priorities.

Outside of her public service, Julie enjoys spending time with family and friends, reading, and cooking. She believes effective leadership starts with listening and collaboration, and she strives to make decisions that reflect the voices of those most impacted.
