E-checks will be assessed a $1 service fee. The credit / debit card service fee will vary, depending upon the type of card used. The fees will be shown before you submit your payment and there will be an option to cancel the payment at that time.
The fee that is paid is divided between the credit card company and the third party – Paymentus in this instance - the county receives only the property tax payment. The $1 fee for e-check is also kept by the service providers. We receive none of the convenience fee.
This is a service that has been requested for several years by taxpayers. Since we are prohibited from paying the fee, the only way we can offer credit cards as a payment option is to go through a third party.
MasterCard, Visa and Discover are accepted for online payments.
